Diagnostic Ultrasounds

At Baby Haven KC, we are committed to providing a seamless and exceptional ultrasound experience for both providers and patients. To ensure efficiency and clarity in our process, please review the following policies and procedures for diagnostic ultrasound appointments.

  • Please note: Baby Haven does not welcome medical emergencies and should not be used as an alternative to urgent or emergent medical imaging.

    Baby Haven KC is a non-essential facility providing an elevated, boutique experience for diagnostic prenatal ultrasounds, currently available for low-risk patients between 18 and 22 weeks gestation.

  • CPT 76805 — Fetal Anatomy Scan (18-22 week screening ultrasound)

    • Transvaginal ultrasounds are not currently offered, even if marked on order.

      • As a new owner-operated facility, Sydnee is continuously expanding availability, services, and anticipates offering all prenatal and postnatal diagnostic studies in the near future.

      • Once available, added services will be listed both on this page and on the booking platform.

  • Official referrals from qualified healthcare providers are required for all diagnostic imaging at Baby Haven.

    ✔ Submit an order to Sydnee@BabyHavenKC.com before the appointment date, or have your patient bring a physical copy.

    Please note: Patients without a valid order at the time of their scheduled appointment will not be seen and are not eligible for a refund.

  • ✔ Direct all patients to schedule their own ultrasound online at www.babyhavenkc.com.

    By requiring patients to book their own appointments, we have:

    1. Eliminated unnecessary administrative tasks and phone calls.

    2. Facilitated early completion of required paperwork, including policies and important FAQs, so that patients are seen without questions or delays.

    3. Maintained an efficient schedule, seeing all appointments on time.

  • Baby Haven operates on a self-pay basis. We do not bill insurance directly. Fetal Anatomy Scans at Baby Haven cost $225. See service description for a list of what is included.

    Invoices available upon request.

  • ✔ Patients must Reschedule or Cancel at least 48 hours in advance via confirmation email or phone.

    ✔ No-shows and last-minute changes will not be refunded or rescheduled without a new payment.

    Out of respect for all, we keep our schedule moving and do not accommodate last-minute decisions that affect others who are eagerly awaiting their opportunity to see their growing baby.

  • Once the study has been interpreted and finalized by a board-certified radiologist, Baby Haven will send the report to the designated provider.

    Reports are typically delivered within 5-7 business days following the completion of the study.

Provider Information:

  • Performed by a certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to assess your baby’s growth, development, and overall well-being. These scans focus on key structures such as your reproductive organs, baby’s heart, brain, spine, and kidneys.

    They also help your provider confirm your baby’s size, rule-out abnormalities, confirm estimated due date, and placenta location—offering vital insight during a critical stage of pregnancy to support a healthy and informed birth experience.

  • Theses diagnostic screenings typically take anywhere from 30-45 minutes, allowing time to ask non-medical questions and enjoy watching baby.

    Baby Haven strives to complete the screening in one visit, minimizing the need for repeat ultrasounds by capturing all requirements to pass in one visit, including baby’s profile and gender (if desired)!

    1. Please have your provider send the official referral to Sydnee@BabyHavenKC.com, or indicate during online booking that you will bring it with you to your appointment.

    2. Qualifying window — 18-22 weeks gestation

    3. Bring a valid photo ID to confirm your identity and up to 2 ADULT guests only.

  • For the best results, bring a cold drink and a sweet treat if your baby is being a bit shy. A full bladder isn’t necessary for the 20-week fetal anatomy scan, but it’s a good idea not to use the restroom right before to ensure clear visualization of your cervix.

  • Gender Disclosure:
    Rest easy—Baby Haven will not end your screening without providing gender and a clear view of baby’s profile. With our experienced sonographer, you can count on accurate, detailed results, and completed anatomy screenings without missing any anatomy!

    Keeping your baby’s gender a surprise until birth?
    No problem! Before your scan begins, we’ll ask whether you already know or want to find out. No slip-ups here—we’ve got it covered!

  • Following your ultrasound, all images are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist for detailed interpretation. A comprehensive report is then sent directly to your healthcare provider—typically within 5 to 7 business days—who will review the findings with you and discuss any recommended next steps.

    Please note that registered sonographers are not authorized to provide interpretations of your ultrasounds. For this reason, any questions such as “Is that normal?” should be directed to your healthcare provider, who will have the final report and full clinical context within 5-7 business days. This process ensures the most accurate and thorough evaluation of your baby’s development.

  • Baby Haven operates on a self-pay basis. We do not bill insurance directly. Fetal Anatomy Scans at Baby Haven cost $225.

  • Up to 2 adult guests are allowed for diagnostic appointments; No children.

    Phones, photography, and recording are not permitted during diagnostic ultrasounds.

    For large groups and non-medical imaging, see elective services.
